I don't want to be a 'good man'
I don't need it!
I don't want to be a 'model citizen'
I don't need it!
I don't want to be admired
Why do I need this?!
I want to be a flute.
Carved from the oldest oak
And play through me
The breath of nature;
The winds are Wild,
The tones are Perfect,
The song is Profound.
Why do I need to be a 'good man'
When I can see that
All a flower needs to bloom
Is the earth below
The sun above
And be nourished by water?
Why do I need to be a 'model citizen'
When only greatness is born
When a flower blooms?
Why do I need to be admired
When I'm in awe
Of the animating force within me
That plays the tune of my life
And I see it played back to me all around me?
